Who we are

The MOC Sticker Shop is a small business run by two people in Sussex, England. We design, print and post vinyl sticker sheets for brick-built models.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is Nigel Davies, trading as The MOC Sticker Shop, 33 Mount Close RH10 7EF.

What this policy covers

This policy covers themocstickershop.com. If you have bought from us through another marketplace, that marketplace has its own privacy policy which governs what it does with your information.

What we collect, and why

When you place an order. Your name, email address, delivery address and order details. We need these to take the order, print and post it, and to answer you if something goes wrong. We do not see or store your full card details. Payments are handled by our payment provider and your card number never reaches us.

When you subscribe to the newsletter. Your email address, and the date you subscribed. We use it to tell you when new sheets are coming, and occasionally to ask what you would like us to make next. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

When you contact us. Whatever you put in the contact form or your email to us, and your email address so that we can reply. We keep the correspondence so we have a record if you come back to us about the same thing.

When you browse the site. If, and only if, you accept performance cookies, we collect anonymous statistics about which pages are viewed, how people arrived at the site, and roughly where in the world they are. We use this to work out which of our sheets people are actually looking for. We cannot identify you from it.

The legal bases we rely on

  • Performing a contract, for anything needed to take, fulfil and support your order.
  • Consent, for the newsletter and for analytics cookies. You can withdraw either at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, for replying to your messages and for keeping our small business running securely.
  • Legal obligation, for keeping records of sales for tax purposes.

Who else handles your information

We are a two-person shop and we use a small number of established services to operate. Each of these acts on our instructions.

  • Squarespace, which hosts the website, runs the shop, and stores our newsletter list and contact form messages.
  • Stripe, which processes card payments.
  • Google Analytics, which provides anonymous website statistics, and which only runs if you accept performance cookies.
  • Royal Mail and other carriers, which receive the delivery address needed to get your parcel to you.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We do not build profiles about you.

Information leaving the UK

Some of the services above are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where information is transferred, it is done under the safeguards that UK data protection law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep things

  • Order records: six years, because tax rules require it.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, and then we remove you.
  • Contact form messages and emails: up to two years, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for 14 months.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device.

Essential cookies make the site work. They remember what is in your basket and keep you logged in during checkout. The site cannot function without them, so they are always on.

Performance cookies power Google Analytics and only run if you accept them on the cookie banner. Until you accept, analytics is switched off and nothing is stored on your device for it.

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie preferences on the site, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • stop using it for a particular purpose
  • send it to you or to another provider in a portable format

Email themocstickershop@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

Children

Our stickers are enjoyed by builders of all ages, but the shop is intended for adults and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will say so on the site.
